So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do, yet He did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Hebrews 4:14-16

At Southlands Community Church we believe in prayer! We believe that God hears, in fact, leans in toward us as we pray (read Psalm 40). He listens and engages in our day to day practicing the presence of God. He speaks to us with a still small voice, with His Word, the Bible, with other people. He shows Himself in all He has made (read Romans 1:20). We pray in conversation, we pray with petition, we pray in repentance, we pray in celebration! He gives us strength to pray, wrestle in prayer, grow our faith, and plead for His Kingdom to come. Furthermore, as a church we together and for each other. In the body of Christ, the Holy Spirit joins our hearts together in fellowship and allows us to care for and intercede for each other (read 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12).

PRAYER MINISTRIES

The E-mail Prayer Chain includes members of our congregation who are passionate about interceding on behalf of others. Please e-mail Rebecca if you have a prayer request that can be sent out by e-mail to this small group of praying people. If you have a more private need, please inform Pastor Charles, Pastor Wendy, or Rebecca and explicitly state that the matter is private. These matters will not be shared with the prayer chain.

Our weekly Sunday Morning Prayer Meeting is open to all and takes place on Sunday mornings at 10:00am usually in the Prayer Room, but currently we are meeting via ZOOM. This prayer meeting seeks to give attendees opportunity to each share brief prayers for the Southlands congregation, surrounding community, and services/programs of the church. Connect with Rebecca if interested in joining.

JOIN THE TEAM

Would you like to pray for the church? Has God called you to pray? Can you commit to an hour of prayer each day?—half hour daily or a few hours on the weekend? Please help us fill up our days and weeks with Prayer for Southlands! We will be working on a calendar/timetable to demonstrate how God has called you and others into this disciplined time of prayer.

If you are interested in participating in this ministry, have praise items to share, or have any other questions related to prayer, please contact Rebecca, the leader of the Prayer Ministry, at rlgowing@gmail.com or Pastor Charles at charles_okongo@can.salvationarmy.org
