Position: Program Director (Term Full Time)

Facility/Department: Southlands Community Church 

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Responsibilities: The Program Director is responsible for the following range of duties, under the leadership of the Camp Supervisor:

  • Plan and implement all aspects of the weekly program, targeted at children ages 6-12, with a view to each camper’s social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development and the delivery of a program of the highest quality.
  • Provide oversight and co-ordination of staff members and volunteers, ensuring adequate planning and training for each aspect of the program and the appropriate delegation of duties to each staff member and volunteer, with a view to the development of a strong, united team.
  • Assist with advertising the program and recruitment of campers, as well as registration of same.
  • Interacts broadly with Southlands congregational members, community partners, neighbourhood families and Church staff.
  • Is eager to pray with campers, parents, other staff members, and is passionate about sharing the Gospel with all involved in the program.
  • Is responsible for all administrative duties related to the operation of KidsQuest Day Camps e.g. registration; camper files; payments; purchasing of supplies; communication with parents, other team members, the Church Administrative Assistant and the Pastors.
  • Conducts oneself with a high degree of confidentiality, respect, and commitment to the development of Southlands’ ENDS statement while working for the Church.

Qualifications:  College age in post secondary studies.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL RESOURCES:

The incumbent may have responsibility for handling cash under the direction of the Day Camp supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR HUMAN RESOURCES

The incumbent is responsible for his/her own time and will give oversight to youth volunteers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The incumbent’s work environment may be in a variety of locations. It will include indoor and outdoor settings according to program planning and at least one off site day trip a week.

Position: Summer Youth Worker (Term Full Time)

Facility/Department: Southlands Community Church 

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

Responsibilities: The Summer Youth Worker is responsible for building relationships with teens both currently at Southlands Community Church and in the community. They will be responsible for programming opportunities for teens throughout the summer months as well as volunteer leadership development opportunities for teens. 

  • Plans and implements a weekly Drop-in for teens throughout the summer months.
  • Build strong relationships with all teens, giving individual attention when needed.
  • Give oversight to leadership training opportunities for teen volunteers specifically in the children’s programming at Southlands, both summer day camps LIT program and Sunday mornings.
  • Assists with planning & implementation of Kidsquest Day Camp program.
  • Works closely with other Kidsquest Day Camp staff members.
  • Interacts broadly with congregational members, community partners, neighbourhood families.
  • Work in cooperation and consultation with the churches administrative and pastoral care staff.
  • Pray with and share the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with other staff, volunteers and program attendees and their families as appropriate. 
  • Keeps all information confidential relative to the teens and their families as well as children and families involved in the day camp program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:  College age in post secondary studies.

Job Grade: $11.50 - $13.50 per hour.
