The appointments are made at the Annual General Meeting in May. Those appointed serve for a two-year term and are entitled to serve no more than two terms before stepping down for at least one year.
- Southlands is a Purpose Driven Church. The members of the Church Board are the guardians of the Purpose. (ENDS)
Southlands Community Church exists so that the people of South Winnipeg will increasingly come to know, love, serve, and become fruitful followers of Jesus Christ, to the Glory of God. We therefore, as a praying congregation, will be a Christ-like community of saved souls and fully functioning followers of Christ, reaching out to people, giving of all our resources and planting new congregations. - The Church Board has charged the Pastors to work solely for the fulfillment of Southlands' Purpose. They have also stated in writing certain limitations on what they cannot do in the fulfillment of this task.
- The Pastors are solely responsible to the Church Board (and no one else) for the fulfillment of this task. The Pastors, however, still have certain responsibilities to the denomination who appointed them.
- The Church Board has set up regular procedures to monitor the Pastors to see that the Purpose of Southlands is being maintained.
- The Church Board has the responsibility to dialogue annually with the denominational leaders concerning the tenure of our Pastors.
 Greg Reid, Board Chair
Greg Reid, is the Board Chair and Chief Governance Officer for Southlands Community Church Board. Greg was elected by his board colleagues as Board Chair in 2009 after having served as Board Secretary the previous year. Greg had served four years as a member of the Board in two previous two year terms.
Greg has been an active member of Southlands Community Church since 1990, and was involved in the transition planning of the former Winnipeg Citadel in Downtown Winnipeg to the current Southlands Community Church Site in Richmond West. Greg has been active in a number of roles at Southlands over the years including Sunday School Teacher, Board Member, Worship Team Member, and various other ministry roles. Greg currently serves in the Business Affairs Ministry as a member of technical team supporting the worship experience on Sundays at Southlands.
Professionally, Greg is a Social Worker, who has worked in various clinical and management roles in the both the non-profit and healthcare sectors for the past nineteen years. In June 2009 he commenced a new position with South Eastman Regional Health Authority as Regional Manager, responsible for Home Care, Palliative Care, and Services to Seniors, after having spent the previous eight years with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority as a Regional Manager for Mental Health Crisis Response.
Greg is married to Robin, and they have three children; Kevin, Samantha, and Jake. The family resides in St. Norbert, where Greg was first elected as a School Trustee with Seine River School Division in 2002, and continues to serve in this role.
