Vision Statement:

Vision 2012: “Making Christ-like disciples AMONG THE NATIONS.”

It is the vision of Southlands Church to make Christ-like disciples AMONG THE NATIONS.

We purpose to be a disciple multiplying congregation, and by the year 2012 we will be known for our passionate fulfillment of Psalm 96:3 as we “Declare His glory AMONG THE NATIONS…in friendship.” We see Southlands moving ministry “from the foyer of our building to the ‘kitchens’ of our neighbourhoods” as we build relationships with hundreds of our neighbours, work associates and our children’s friends. As a result, our Church family will grow three-fold in the next 5 years. We will be more than a friendly church. We will be a church where people make friends with us, and especially, with Jesus Christ.

We will “Declare His glory AMONG THE NATIONS’…students.” We see the ministry of Southlands captivating the hearts of students in our community. As a result, a whole generation of young people will be introduced to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, with more than 200 students calling Southlands their spiritual home by the year 2012.

We will “Declare His glory AMONG THE NATIONS…beyond.” We see the members of Southlands increasingly leaving the comfort of our sofas for the sands of other “shores” as we partner with Jesus in His mission of grace and salvation in the world.  The members of Southlands will be known as a people “on mission with Jesus” – healing hurts and meeting needs in His Name on yearly missions trips, providing financial support for missions opportunities, and by planting new churches.

Purpose Statement:

Southlands Community Church exists so that the people of Winnipeg will increasingly come to know, love, serve, and become fruitful followers of Jesus Christ to the glory of God.

How We Pursue Our Vision and Purpose:

• Our Vision and Purpose is fulfilled in the life of every person calling Southlands their home as they BEGIN-BELONG-BELIEVE-BECOME-BREATHE.
• We BEGIN by attending worship services and developing relationships with others at Southlands.
  We BELONG by entering into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and joining Southlands Church as a member.
• We BELIEVE by deepening our knowledge and experience with the Lord and by partnering with other believers through Bible study; prayer; spiritual disciplines; learning to live a Spirit-filled life.
• WE BECOME by discovering our unique, God-given passion, spiritual gifts and personal style as we find out how to best serve others, and as we join God in His mission in our world.
• We BREATHE by continually nurturing the life of faith through corporate and small group worship.
